When will I receive overrides and street commissions?

  • Agent Street Commissions: The vast majority of carriers (with the exception of a few regional plans) administer agent street commissions by the carrier. These are generally paid in January, during the second or third week. For 2026, carriers should release most payments by January 19th.

  • Carrier-Administered Override Commissions: HealthSpring, Aetna, and United administer overrides directly by the carrier. Aetna and United pay throughout AEP, upon application approval. HealthSpring pays in line with street commissions.

  • Spark-Administered Override Commissions: Spark pays out admin fees and overrides for Alignment, Anthem, Devoted, Humana, and Wellcare. Humana pays throughout AEP, upon application approval. See below for the timing of Spark-administered commissions.

See here for a full list of who (Spark vs. Carrier) administers commission payments by carrier.

When can I expect payments from Spark when Spark administers?

For commissions administered by Spark, we conduct a "commissions run" twice a month, paying out everything Spark has received to date.

  • Monthly Payments (Wellcare, Anthem, and Alignment): We receive payments from these carriers monthly. Our goal is to pay these out within 5 business days of the 1st of the following month.

    • Example: If Spark is processing November commissions, the goal is to have those paid out within the first 5 business days of December.

  • Bi-Weekly Payments (Devoted and Humana): We receive payments from these carriers bi-weekly. Our goal is to pay these out within 5 business days of the 15th of the month.

    • Example: If Spark is processing early-month commissions, the goal is to have those paid out within 5 business days of the 15th of that same month.

  • Carrier "True-Ups" Where relevant, Spark may administer "true-up" payments, which are paid out in the week following the beginning-of-the-month commission payments.

What is Spark doing in the background on my behalf?

We actively audit our national carrier partners to ensure Spark and all downline partners are correctly paid for each application and enrollment in our platform.

  • Cadence: This audit is performed monthly.

  • Methodology: We compare the production reports we have received against the corresponding commission statements received from those carriers.

  • Escalation: Our team submits a roster of enrollments with missing payments to our carrier partners for investigation on your behalf.

  • Volume & Recovery: We submit and recover payments on thousands of inquiries per month. As our data infrastructure and technology platform improve, the number of monthly inquiries should drastically reduce.

What should I do if I still feel like I'm missing payments?

You should audit your payments by downloading your commission statements from the platform and comparing them against your production reports. If you feel you are missing payments, please email [email protected] and your Account Manager, providing details on what you think is missing.

For even faster resolution, please utilize the specific inquiry forms below for the respective carriers when reaching out to the Finance Team (you can download or make a copy to send us with your submission):
