Aetna is launching a new certification portal, Aetna Academy, for the 2027 plan year, with new certification options available for the first time.
Key dates, your options, and everything you need to do are below.
Key Dates
Date | What Happens |
June 18 | The current individual Medicare certification portal closes permanently at 11:59 pm ET. 2026 certification ends. |
June 19 | Pinpoint certification launches. |
June 22 | AHIP and NABIP certifications launch. |
June 23 | Aetna Academy opens at 8:00 am ET. 2027 certification begins. |
📣 IMPORTANT: If you have an outstanding 2026 certification, complete it before June 18 at 11:59 pm ET.
Your 2027 Certification Options
You must complete one of the following to sell Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Plans through Aetna for 2027. NABIP and Pinpoint are new options this year.
AHIP — $175. Launches June 22.
NABIP — $100. Launches June 22. New for 2027.
Pinpoint — $99.95. Launches June 19. New for 2027.
Aetna no-cost certification — Free. Available in Aetna Academy starting June 23. Only valid if you sell Aetna and SilverScript exclusively. Not transferable to other carriers. Does not qualify for CE credits.
💡 Links to AHIP, NABIP, and Pinpoint will be available directly inside Aetna Academy. There is no discounted AHIP rate for brokers certifying through Aetna for 2027.

Aetna Academy opens June 23 at 8:00 am ET. You can access it in two ways:

Completed AHIP, NABIP, or Pinpoint outside Aetna Academy?
You must log in to Aetna Academy and transfer your external certification. Then complete the required training modules within the portal.

Complete the required training: Aetna Core, SilverScript PDP, and MA/MAPD/SNP.
