E&O Insurance

What E&O insurance is, how to purchase it, and when Spark needs your certificate.

Overview

Errors & Omissions (E&O) insurance is a standard requirement for licensed Medicare agents. This article covers what E&O is, how to purchase it, and when Spark needs your certificate.

Purchasing E&O insurance

You must carry E&O insurance before you can contract with Medicare carriers. You can purchase coverage through our partner link below for a discounted rate. Your certificate of insurance is issued immediately upon enrolling online.

Note for agents: The required E&O for Medicare is $1M per claim / $1M aggregate.

Note for agencies: If you have an agency, you can typically use the agency's E&O for yourself as the Principal and for your downline agents if they are employees assigning commissions to you. If you have street agents, those agents typically need to purchase their own E&O. Before purchasing agency E&O, ask your personal E&O carrier if you can add your agency name to the certificate of insurance rather than purchasing a separate agency policy — if they allow it, it may save you several thousand dollars. If not, you can purchase agency E&O here.

When Spark needs your E&O certificate

For certain carriers, your E&O certificate is required as part of the contracting process. If this applies to you, you'll be prompted to upload it directly in the contracting form — no separate submission needed.

Outside of that, there's no need to send your certificate to Spark proactively. If we need it for any other reason, we'll reach out to you directly.
