What is a plan suppression?
Plan Suppressions are plans that carriers or FMOs request to be removed from third-party quoting and enrollment tools, such as Sunfire. If a plan is suppressed it will not appear for quoting during the enrollment process.
Field Agents working in BlazeConnect
Carrier-suppressed (or non-marketable) plans will not appear in BlazeConnect.
Plans that are reported to Sunfire as non-commissionable will appear with a "non-commissionable" tag. Enrollment will be supported for these plans.
Spark will not request for any plans additional plans to be suppressed.
Call Center Agents working in Blaze
Carrier-suppressed (or non-marketable) plans will not appear in Blaze.
Spark will suppress any plans reported to Sunfire as non-commissionable and are not suppressed by the carrier.
Non-commissionable plans should not appear in Blaze for quoting and enrollment.
Why do carriers suppress plans?
Why do carriers suppress plans?
As we've seen in previous AEPs, financial headwinds are forcing many MA carriers to make tough decisions around benefits, commissions, and networks. When a plan is not financially sustainable, carriers have a few levers at their disposal to slow growth. These include:
Changes to benefits (disruptions)
Changes to commissions (going non-commissionable)
Leaving a market altogether (exits)
Carriers may request plan suppressions for various reasons, including if a plan is non-commissionable or not marketable (requires paper application submission). Ultimately, the purpose of suppressions is to support slowing unsustainable growth, which enables carriers to increase investments in other markets and plans.

If a plan is not listed in your Sunfire instances but appears on a carrier site or Medicare.gov, please reach out to the Spark team with the zip code and plan information and we'll verify if it is suppressed.

Combo Flow / Needs Assessment
The new Combo Flow experience streamlines Quoting, Needs Assessment, and Enrollment Workflows into a single experience designed to reduce clicks and improve agent efficiency.
The redesigned Needs Assessment experience helps agents gather beneficiary information more efficiently, identify priorities, and align plan recommendations with individual healthcare and coverage needs.
Medicaid Lookup Enhancements
Medicaid Lookup Enhancements
Medicaid lookup functionality will be available in all states prior to AEP (excluding Hawaii and Alaska).
A new secondary validation will check if a beneficiary is eligible for the specific D-SNP plan (when carrier data is available). This validation will occur automatically when an agent clicks "Enroll." Agents will see messaging when a potential carrier eligibility misalignment is detected to help reduce submission risk.
Sunfire is also introducing MCO alignment validation options to help identify and prevent enrollments that don't align with a beneficiary's Managed Care Organization (MCO).
Agents will see a warning when a beneficiary's MCO does not align with the selected plan for enrollment, alerting agents to review the information before proceeding.
Humana Field Benefit Activation
