The SunFire applications tab under Business Performance presents a count of all applications submitted via SunFire using Spark’s contact integration or personalized URL (pURL). It captures submission volume only, without tracking downstream outcomes such as effectuations or attrition.
SunFire Applications Data Provided
The SunFire applications tab displays the following information:
Total applications in selected time period
Total applications in selected time period for piror year
Year-over-year growth rate
Growth is the year-over-year % increase in SunFire application count. It reflects the 2025 year-to-date application count compared to the same date last year. 100% growth = 2x.
Projection
Projection shows the total SunFire application count expected by extrapolating the YTD growth rate through to the rest of the year.
Note: If you have limited Sunfire data, the projection may be skewed or not applicable.
Note: projection calculation will only show when current year is selected, it will not display for past years
Use the Date view and Year filters to set the time range for the tab:
Fiscal Year: Spark's fiscal year, which starts February and ends January of the following year. It runs a year ahead of the calendar year because it references the enrollment year for that year's Annual Election Period. For example, fiscal year 2027 starts February 2026 and ends January 2027.
Annual Election Period (AEP): applications with an effective date on the 1st of the applicable year.
Open Enrollment Period (OEP): applications with an effective date between February 1st and April 1st of the applicable year.
Rest of Year (ROY): applications with an effective date from April 2nd through the end of the applicable calendar year.
Custom: see below
Selecting Custom from the Date view dropdown opens the Select date range window, where you can look at any span of dates instead of a preset selling period.
Quick presets are listed on the left: Today, Yesterday, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, This month, Last month, and This year.
To set your own range, use the two-month calendar: click your start date, then your end date. Use the arrows to move between months. Choosing an earlier date after a later one automatically swaps them.
Click Apply to update the page (Apply becomes available once both a start and end date are selected), or Cancel to discard.
While a custom range is active, the Year dropdown is turned off. Custom ranges can span more than one year; when they do, the chart's x-axis labels include the year (for example, "Jan 2026") so multi-year views stay readable.
To facilitate comparison, the data is conveniently visualized using a bar graph that can be filtered by Carriers, Product type, Agent and Subagency (for APs) and Submission type.
Viewing the chart by effective date or submitted date
Use the View by dropdown at the top right of the tab to choose how applications are plotted on the bar graph:
Effective date (default for agency view) — each application is plotted in the month its coverage takes effect.
Submitted date (default for agent view) — each application is plotted in the month it was submitted through SunFire.
This changes only how the chart is plotted. However, the applications included and the headline metrics (year-over-year count, growth, projection) are still set by the Date view time range, which is based on effective date. The only exception is when plotting a Custom time range and viewing by submitted, this will show all applications submitted in that window, regardless of their effective date.
